Am I still covered if my static caravan is unoccupied because of Covid?
Yes, our unoccupancy exclusions have not changed because of Covid, and you must still take the normal precautions and measures when leaving the home unoccupied. We consider your static caravan unoccupied if it has been insufficiently furnished for normal occupation or if it has been furnished for normal occupation but has not been occupied for more than 72 consecutive hours.
Out of season between 1 November and 31 March the home must be properly prepared for cover to apply. Please see our policy wording for a full list of exclusions.
What if something happens to my static caravan while I’m not there?
We ask that you let our claims team know as soon as you are made aware of the incident. If the person who discovers the problem can take pictures this will also help the claims process. Our dedicated team will then walk you through the necessary steps and they can advise on the best actions to be taken. Please keep in contact with your site and update any contact details you have with them to make sure they can get in touch with you should they need to.
Can my family stay in my leisure home if I can’t travel because of restrictions?
Yes, your family can still use your leisure home should local restrictions for both your leisure home and their own location allow them to. However, the same exclusions apply whilst allowing guests to stay, so please read the policy wording to make sure you are comfortable with them.

Do I need additional cover for my static caravan when lending it to friends and family?
You will need to get extended ‘Hiring Out’ cover if you are letting or lending your static caravan to anyone outside of your household. It’s simple to add this cover to your policy, speak to one of our advisors today.
What is the difference between my standard static caravan insurance policy and hiring out cover?
The extended hiring out cover, protects you in the event of loss or damage caused by malicious persons or vandals, theft or attempted theft and accidental damage whilst let or lent. Your standard policy will only provide cover for loss or damage when you are staying there.
When letting or lending the property you are required to carry out an inspection within 72 hours after your guests depart. The unoccupied element of your cover will remain unchanged therefore you will need to ask your guests or arrange to have the water, gas and electric turned off at the mains.
How long can my friends/family stay in my static caravan for?
With the extended hiring out cover, your guests can stay a maximum of four consecutive weeks, up to 20 weeks per year.
Do I need to let my park site know my friends/family will be staying?
Each site will have its own rules around guests staying, you may find there are additional restrictions following the pandemic to ensure park safety. You might wish to get in touch with the park anyway to arrange for them to hold the keys for your guests, and to carry out an inspection within 72 hours after your guests depart per the hiring out cover conditions.
